WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Marian men's basketball team was selected to finish sixth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's basketball preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Last season the Sabres went 10-10 in conference play and qualified for the NACC tournament. Concordia Wisconsin was picked to finish atop the standings. Last season the Falcons finished in third place with a 14-6 record in league play (19-10 overall), and won the NACC Tournament, 73-71, over top-seeded Aurora, for the program's first tournament title in the NACC. CUW received 9 of 22 first-place votes for 217 poll points, just two points ahead of Benedictine's 215 and seven top nods. Aurora was third with 214 and five top votes, MSOE fourth with 185 and the final first-place pick, and Lakeland fifth at 120. Marian was tabbed sixth at 119, Edgewood seventh at 112 and Wisconsin Lutheran eighth at 89. Rockford (87), Dominican (55) and Concordia Chicago (39) filled out the final three spots in the poll. The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament. 2015-16 NACC Preseason Coaches' and SIDs' Poll 1.
