FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University men's basketball (6-13, 5-9 NACC) got out to a slow start and could never recover falling to CUW 82-65 at home.
The Falcons jumped out early on the Sabres using a 17-0 run to jump out to a 17-3 lead. The Sabre offense struggled as the Falcon defense was able to turn turnovers into transition points, but the Sabres were able to bounce back and keep pace. During the final minutes of the half Marian was able to chip into the Falcon lead using a 9-2 run along with scoring the final four points of the half to put the score at 42-26 entering the break. Eight different Sabres would record points in the opening half led by freshman Trentin Fouse who netted six points. Despite the late momentum shift, the Falcons would maintain their lead for much of the second half and the Sabres were unable to gain any ground. The Sabres rallied late closing out the game on a 16-2 but the early first half deficit was too much leading to an 82-65 final. Sophomore Tyrese Pinson was able to score double-figures for the Sabres with a team-high 13 points. Marian next hosts Concordia Chicago Saturday, Feb. 4 for alumni day with tip scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Comments are closed.
