MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Marian Sabres dropped a heartbreaking 76-74 decision to the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors Tuesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
MU, down by as much as 14 points, rallied late to take the lead and Connor Morovits nailed a jumper at 5:44 in the second half to give the Sabres a 58-55 advantage. Just when MU was about to seize control of the game, the Warriors outscored the Sabres 21-16 during the final five minutes of regulation. The backcourt of Reggie Roemer and Alex Stecker played well for the Blue and White. Roemer, a Madison native, scored a team-high 21 points and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Stecker tied a career mark with six trey balls en route to scoring 20 points. Alex Manhardt continued his torrid pace since joining the active roster in late December and scored 11 points and hauled in eight boards, narrowly missing out on his second double-double of the season. Newcomer Kelvin Jones finished with a career-high 10 points and was 2-for-2 from the 3-point line. Collin Kennedy scored a game-high 28 points to lead WLC (8-10, 6-7 NACC). The MU defense forced 14 turnovers and turned them into 20 points. However, the Warriors dominated in front of the basket and outrebounded the Sabres 40-29. MU was also outscored in the paint 34-24. MU (9-10, 6-8 NACC) returns to action Feb. 3 at Concordia Wisconsin. Comments are closed.
