FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Behind three student-athletes in double digits, the Marian University men's basketball team knocked off Dominican, 80-68, Thursday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.
15 seconds in the first half senior Alex Stecker hit a 3-pointer and over the ensuing eight minutes the Sabres opened up a 23-7 advantage – and didn't look back. Dynamic sophomore Reggie Roemer showcased his abilities in the opening stanza. The Madison, Wis. native scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and grabbed three rebounds. The MU defense put its clamps down and held DU to 25 percent from the floor on 6-of-24 shooting. The Sabres also forced seven turnovers. MU led by as much as 23 points late in the second half. Roemer finished the evening with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. He also was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Alex Manhardt scored 16 points and hauled in seven rebounds. He was also 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Junior Josh Creed chipped in 14 points and handed out five assists. The Sabres won the battle in front of the rim and out-rebounded the Stars 38-27. MU also scored 28 points in the paint. Tim Robertson scored 23 points to lead DU (4-18, 2-15 NACC). MU (11-12, 8-10 NACC) returns to the hardwood Saturday at Rockford. Comments are closed.
