MADISON, Wis. – Josh Creed scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to post his first double-double of the season as Marian raced past Edgewood 74-58 Thursday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action at the Edgedome.
At 16:10 in the first half MU led 8-5 and Reggie Roemer, a Madison native, drilled a 3-pointer that jump-started a 22-5 run that lasted nearly 10 minutes and the Sabres opened up a commanding 33-10 lead. Kelvin Jones converted a 3-pointer in the waning moments of the half and the Sabres went into the break with a 43-21 advantage. MU continued its offensive output in the second half and a Creed tip-in at 17:05 extended the Sabres' lead to 51-21 – the largest lead of the game. Alex Manhardt, who made his first start of the season, dropped 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. He also grabbed five rebounds. Roemer helped out with 14 points and hauled in seven rebounds. MU won the battle in front of the basket and as a team grabbed 54 rebounds and scored 30 points in the paint. Spencer Barnes scored 12 points to lead the Eagles (1-14, 1-9 NACC). MU (7-8, 4-6 NACC) returns to the hardwood Saturday at Dominican. Comments are closed.
