AURORA, Ill. - Marian University men's basketball (5-12, 4-8 NACC) started fast but couldn't keep up with the up-tempo style of Aurora falling 91-74.
The Sabres started the game hot opening with nine of the first 11 points of the game. After the Sabres brought their lead to 15-7 Aurora started to chip away at the MU lead. The Spartans would gain their first lead of the game with a 14-4 run and expanded the lead out to 48-30 to close out the first half. The Sabres would attempt to start a comeback using an 11-2 run midway through the half to cut into the Spartan lead. Marian outscored Aurora 44-43 in the half but the first half deficit was too much to overcome as Aurora held on for the 91-74 win. Junior Alex Manhardt paced the offense with a team-high with 19 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Evan Hansen chipped in 17 points and sophomore Tyrese Pinson added 15 points. Marian will return home to face Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday, Jan. 25 with a 7 p.m. tip. Comments are closed.
