FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Five Marian student-athletes reached double figures, but a second-half rally fell short in an 81-71 setback against Wisconsin Lutheran Tuesday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.
Both teams traded blows in the first half and the Warriors went into halftime with a 31-26 lead. Marian shot well in the second half and hit 50 percent (16-of-32) from the field; however, WLC matched the Sabres and saw 54 percent (17-of-31) of its shots fall. WLC (3-3, 2-0 NACC) opened the half with an 11-7 run and jumped out to a 44-31 lead. MU gradually chipped away at the deficit and a Jack Lund bucket at 12:40 brought the Sabres to within 49-44. Just when MU looked to play themselves back into contention, the Warriors went on a 19-0 run to put the contest out of reach. Josh Creed scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Alex Stecker helped with 12 points and handed out five assists. Carvell Oliver, Reggie Roemer and Montrell Hobbs each scored 10 points. Collin Kennedy scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Warriors. Marian (3-3, 0-2 NACC) returns to the court Saturday at Benedictine. Comments are closed.
