FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Josh Creed scored a game-high 23 points but Marian was unable to overcome a late Concordia Wisconsin surge and dropped its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener 83-79 Saturday afternoon at Sadoff Gymnasium.
At the end of the first half CUW (3-1, 2-0 NACC) led 40-38. Reggie Roemer opened the second half with a midrange jumper to knot it up at 40. The Sabres looked poised to make a run, but the Falcons had other intentions. CUW scored 19 points in a row for a run that lasted nearly five minutes. MU gradually fought back and a Montrell Hobbs bucket with 1:56 remaining in the half brought the Sabres to within 76-74. However, CUW hit its free throws down the stretch to escape with the win. Hobbs was a force in front of the basket and scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Roemer scored a season-high 15 points and Connor Morovits came off the bench to help out with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting from behind the arc. MU (3-2, 0-1 NACC) returns to action Tuesday versus Wisconsin Lutheran. Comments are closed.
