WAUKESHA, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – Marian University junior guard Jeff Harris (Calumet Park, Ill.-H.L. Richards) was rewarded for his efforts in aiding the men's basketball team's upset win over Edgewood College last week, garnering Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced today, Jan. 30.
Harris scored 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range and 2-for-2 at the free throw line in Marian's 70-69 win over first place Edgewood back on Jan. 25. It's the second such honor for Harris this season, having earned his first award of the year back on Dec. 19, 2011. The Calumet Park, Ill. native missed his first shot of the game before going on to drain his final 10 attempts. He scored 11 first half points to pace the Sabres to a one point halftime lead and then added 15 points in the second half, making each of them count in the one point win. Harris ranks sixth in the league in scoring at 16.3 points per game and has turned it up a notch of late. The junior has reached double-figures in each of his last five contests, leading the Sabres to a 4-1 record while averaging 18.3 points per game over the span. Comments are closed.
