FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's basketball team dropped an 82-54 decision to visiting Concordia University Wisconsin tonight, Dec. 7, in a Northern Athletics Conference matchup inside Sadoff Gymnasium. The Falcons used a balanced attack, putting just two players in double figures, led by Mitchell Schneider's 12 points and Luke Doedens' 11 on the way to a convincing victory. CUW turned 17 offensive rebounds into 23 second chance points and shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) from the field. Sophomore forward Cody Veleke led the way for Marian with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, adding six rebounds as well. Mike Keller chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jeff Harris added 11. Concordia Wisconsin improves to 6-2 overall, 3-1 in the NAC. Meanwhile, the Sabres fall to 2-5 (0-3 NAC). The Falcons took a 39-36 lead into the break, stretching an 18-16 lead with 7:18 to go into a 21-10 run to close out the half. The Falcons outscored the Sabres 16-0 on second chance points in the opening period, out-rebounding Marian by a 26-13 margin, 11 rebounds coming on the offensive end. CUW wasted no time building its lead out the break, using a 24-10 run over the first eight minutes to quickly go on top, 63-36. The Falcon bench scored 33 of its 43 second half points, mostly in garbage time. The Sabres shot 37.3 percent (19-for-51) from the field, including 4-of-15 from long range. The Sabres will return to action this Saturday, hosting MSOE in the tail-end of a men's and women's doubleheader, beginning at 2 p.m. inside Sadoff Gymnasium. Comments are closed.
