RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Reggie Roemer scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field to lead Marian past Dominican past 87-84 Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action played at the Igini Sports Forum.
In the first half the Sabres went to Connor Morovits early and often and it paid instant dividends. The senior finished the half with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Morovits nailed his final 3-pointer of the half with 45 seconds remaining and the Sabres went into the break with a 42-35 advantage. The Stars clawed back in the second half at tied it at 52-52 with 14:13 remaining. MU swiftly responded and Alex Stecker swished a 3-pointer that led to a brief 7-2 run that lasted over two minutes. From there the Stars threatened, but the Blue and White defense held true to close out the win. Alex Manhardt scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to record his first career double-double. Stecker dropped 14 points and hauled in six rebounds. As a team the Sabres shot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the field, while the Stars connected on 47 percent (31-of-65) of its shots from the floor. Tim Robertson scored 19 points to lead DU (2-12, 1-9 NACC). MU (8-8, 5-6 NACC) winners of three-straight hosts Lakeland on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Comments are closed.
