FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Spencer Barnes hit a 3-pointer as time expired and Edgewood defeated Marian 87-85 Tuesday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.
MU trailed 84-83 with nine seconds remaining and Reggie Roemer converted a pair of free throws to give the Sabres an 85-84 lead. MU received a solid effort from sophomore Alex Manhardt. The 6-foot-6 West Bend, Wis. product scored a career-high 28 points and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Manhardt has made 20 free throws in a row with his last miss Jan. 26 at Wisconsin Lutheran. Junior Josh Creed scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to post his third double-double of the season. Roemer helped put with eight points and handed out seven assists. As a team the Sabres shot 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field, however, the Eagles were an explosive 56.2 percent (35-of-62) from the floor. EC shot 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from behind the arc. Jim Bridges scored 16 points to lead the Eagles (3-19, 3-14 NACC). MU (10-12, 7-10 NACC) returns to the court Thursday evening. Comments are closed.
