MADISON, Wis. - Marian University men's basketball (6-17, 5-13 NACC) fell to Edgewood College by a final score of 80-61.
The Sabres jumped out early scoring the first eight points of the game off of a pair of three-pointers and a layup. Edgewood bounced back quickly, however, tying the game at 12-12 shortly after. From there the Eagles were able to take their first lead of the game and slowly began to extend on their lead. Marian was able to hold off the Eagles from making an extended run and kept the deficit manageable. The Eagles opened the second half fast coming out of the break with a 10-2 run. MU was able to rebound off the run and keep pace with Edgewood but were unable to chip away at their deficit leading to the 80-61 final. MU held a +9 turnover differential in the loss forcing 14 Eagle turnovers while turning the ball over only five times. Three Sabre starters scored double-figures led by junior Reggie Roemer who netted a game-high 20 points. Junior Alex Manhardt was able to produce his fifth double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 boards. Marian opens the final homestand of the season hosting Rockford Saturday, Feb. 11 for a 4:15 p.m. tip. Comments are closed.
